Forecasts & expectations

Sarb Expectations

This isolated package contains 209 official-source PIT records. Four 2026 MPC vintages contribute 19 decision, explicitly reported vote and source-text policy-signal records and 78 QPM staff forecasts for the policy-rate path, headline/core CPI, GDP, the nominal effective exchange rate and unit labour costs. The March 2026 Quarterly Bulletin contributes 112 BER respondent inflation expectations across four respondent groups, four horizons and seven survey quarters from 2024Q3 through 2026Q1. Unstated zero-vote directions are not invented; March's published vote is retained as unanimous without inferring a member count.

Sources & interpretation

Records retain source-specific units, release clocks and revision information where available. Different vintages, forecasts and observations should not be treated as a continuous comparable series.

SARB staff QPM forecasts use the sarb.qpm_staff namespace. BER respondent means use sarb.ber_respondents; they are never described as SARB staff forecasts. The QPM rate path is a broad policy guide, not an MPC commitment.

The official webcast schedule proves each MPC release at 15:00 Africa/Johannesburg. The official advance-release calendar proves the Quarterly Bulletin clock at 10:00 on 31 March 2026. It does not prove the original publication clock for the older BER survey quarters, so all 112 retrospective rows are conservatively gated to the Bulletin clock. The April Monetary Policy Review PDF and its six-workbook data bundle are preserved as supporting evidence at the official 21 April 2026 17:00 release clock; they are not duplicated into the normalized ledger.
